The Power of Belonging - Togetherness Conference 2018
In this second international conference, the power of belonging was addressed in an educational context, and the almost 200 participants from 22 nations, explored and discussed what it means to belong, how individual fulfilment can be integrated with collective action and social responsibility and how one can develop a sense of interdependence and a future in which all can belong.
The focus was on schools as spheres of belonging, on theoretical and practical approaches to activating collective self-awareness, on exploring ways in which school can reinvent itself to promote the common good.
Two keynote speakers addressed the reinvention of school and the challenges of belonging for pupils in schools. See the videos below.
This lead on to a set of workshops based around real-life applications or methods associated with the power of belonging. See videos below.

Mr. Jan Masschelein, the University of Leuven
Jan Masschelein is working at the Laboratory for Education and Society and teaches Educational Philosophy and Theory at the University of Leuven. He studied educational sciences and philosophy at the K.U.Leuven and at the Johan Wolfgang Goethe Universität in Frankfurt am Main and is also Fellow of the Alexander Von Humboldt-Stiftung.

"Helt naturligt og en nødvendighed", lyder det her fra formændene Peter Bendix, Torben Vind og Lisbeth Trinskjær, i et interview på The Power of Belonging-konferencen 2018.
Konferencen er blevet til i samarbejde mellem Dansk Friskoleforening, Efterskolerne, Højskolerne og Den frie Lærerskole.
I år havde konferencen 200 deltagere fra 21 lande.
